Dear students,

Welcome to the second course in English Phonetics at your Masters course in Translation and Interpretation, UBA. On this page you'll find all the files you need. Since phonetics & phonology are concerned with both your perceptual and productive skills, we'll try to follow a multisensorial approach. As a result, you'll be working with reading materials, audio and video files.

CLASSWORK
In each class there will be analysis and discussion of   concepts as well as oral practice . The aim of the course is to enhance the students' listening comprehension and pronunciation skills. Therefore, the theory discussed in class aims at helping students get a better grasp of the "backstage" of pronunciation work.  Since oral practice is the aim, students should work intensively on each text for imitation from one session to the next.

EVALUATION
There will be group work video sessions (6th or 7th class)  and a final exam.
The final examination will be oral and will  take place in  the 8th class. It will consist of:

a) A dialogue from the set dealt with in class to be read aloud.
b) Reading of  a new text aloud.
c)  Explanation of  segmental and suprasegmental features of the new text.
